From December 18 to 20, 2025, the Benakuma training center hosted a graduation ceremony organized by the Theological and Christian Education Department of the Cameroon Baptist Convention. This event marked an important milestone in the ongoing effort to strengthen local churches through sound, Bible-centered ministerial training. Jesus Christ must be worshiped and made known. This can only happen through careful and faithful presentation of the gospel. Careful and faithful presentation of the gospel only happens after careful and faithful study of the word of God in which the gospel is revealed. Paul makes this exact point when he states in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 that an overseer must “be able to teach” (1 Tim. 3:2). In response to this biblical requirement, the TCED continues to invest intentionally in non-formal theological education through its ministry training centers. The TCED wants to mint ministers who are “able to teach” so that they can faithfully do the work of ministry that lies ahead of them (Eph. 4:11-12). This approach is especially relevant in contexts where many aspiring pastors and church leaders have a genuine desire to serve God and His church through pastoral ministry but lack the time or financial resources to pursue formal theological education. Non-formal training thus provides an inclusive and contextually appropriate pathway for ministry preparation. The TCED is committed to the vision “to present every believer mature in Christ.” It is for this reason that non-formal theological education training centers like the one at Benakuma exist.
