Family members have expectations of each other. Parents expect the best from their children through obedience and children expect the best from their parents through love and care. This is an expectation that comes from God. In our texts, God asks for refined metals like gold, silver and bronze. The rest of the list contains the best quality things that the Israelites could afford. This says that God wants us to give our best. The things we give are not worthy of a holy God but He accepts them if we give according to His directions as to what is acceptable. Give God the best of your time, finances, attention, singing, service to others, etc.
