The process of mediating must begin from a place of commitment and love. Understanding that you, who is mediating, is also a debtor to someone, should motivate you to mediate sacrificially. In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he charges us to owe no one anything but love. This implies that everyone is a debtor. Even the people who hurt us deserve our love because it is a debt we owe them. Taking steps to mediate for someone is paying a debt we owe them, first in love, then in response to Scripture’s command in Romans 12:17. We all owe our lives to Christ who paid for our sins. Mediating forgiveness for us and the father was costed his life. So let us mediate as debtors willing to sacrifice for reconciliation to be achieved. As we mediate, it is important to make the hurting person realize that he/she is a debtor of love to that sinner.
Reflection
Prayer
Ask God for the willingness to sacrifice in the course of mediating forgiveness.
