The Apostle Paul, at the end of one of his letters, contrasted the work of the Spirit and the flesh, urging Christians to live Spirit-filled lives that produce the fruit of the Spirit. He calls on believers to bear one another’s burden not when they are hungry, in pain, or physical challenge, but in sin. It is not overlooking sin, or exposing it in public to be seen as a spiritual giant, but it is first restoring. Restoring a fallen person is not done by just anyone, but by those who are spiritually mature and gentle. We live in a world of many life-depressing temptations that some fall unconsciously, we must be loving to the point of bearing such burdens and bringing back the fallen ones in gentleness. Don’t make a public show of one who has sinned, and don’t overlook the sin either.
Reflection
Restoration of someone who has fallen has to be done gently and with lots of patience.
Prayer
Depend on the Holy Spirit to produce the fruit of love in you daily so that you can be gentle to fallen brethren.
