Israel rebelled against the Lord and brought affliction upon her. God allowed the suffering to come upon them. The prophet in this passage praised God for His faithful covenant love. God has never failed to keep His covenant promises. Because of His steadfast love for His people, He felt the pain of their affliction even though He allowed it to come to them. When Israel’s rebellion brought God at conflict with her, Israel was afflicted, but because of His steadfast love, God felt her pain and redeemed her. This means that God might allow suffering to come to us because He wants us to realized our rebellion and come back to Him, but He is deeply afflicted in our affliction. He would not want to see us suffering, that is why He will not abandon us in suffering.
Reflection
His love for us burns within Him.
Prayer
Thank God for always sharing your pain with you.
