Love is not envious (v4b): Envy is an emotional expression that is often characterized by feelings of resentment, bitterness, and desiring to have what belong to someone else. Envy is an act of the flesh resulting from human sin (Gal 5:19-21). Love therefore cannot be expressed in envy. If we are envious of our family members, brothers and sisters in church, then we do not love them. Love is not boastful and arrogant. True love does not seek to show up itself or promote self. It does not look down on others no matter their levels (Phil 2:2-4). God has blessed us differently. We shouldn’t look down on others because we think we are better than them for any reason. Rather, let us seek ways to demonstrate true love to each other.
Reflection
Love cannot be manifested in the negative.
Prayer
Pray that God will help you cast away all negative attitudes that the world claims to be a manifestation of love.
