James 1:12-15 teaches us that temptation begins with our desires. When we allow ourselves to be carried away by sinful desires, they lead to temptation and ultimately to sin. Our desires, if unchecked, can lead us astray. It's essential to recognize when our desires are guiding us toward sin and take immediate steps to resist them. When we give in to our desires, they lead to sin, and sin brings death. James notes that God does not tempt us, but our desires, when not controlled, give birth to sin. The key to overcoming temptation is to resist allowing our desires to dictate our actions. How often do we allow our desires to rule us? Whether it’s lustful desires or the desire for something sinful, we must actively fight against them. Recognize when a desire is leading you towards temptation and take steps to flee from it. Instead, choose to pursue desires that align with God’s will, like love, peace, and righteousness.
