At the departure of the angels, the shepherds decided to go to Bethlehem to see for themselves what they were told. They went with haste because their hearts were gladdened with the marvelous news. They eagerly desired to see for themselves. They saw the child with the sign that was given them by the angel. Their worship of this king was visible in the joy with which they spread the news to the world. They became the first evangelist of the Christian time. Not only they were amazed with this great wonder but all who heard them were also amazed. By implication, our knowledge of the Messiah should hasten our hearts to worship and spreading of the good news to others. The shepherd did not allow their animals to hinder them, but they went in haste to see by themselves. Do not allow you job, business, farm, etc, to hinder you from worshipping God.
Reflection
This passage reminds us that encountering Jesus should move us to immediate action—just as the shepherds hurried to see the newborn Savior, our hearts should be quickened with joy and worship when we recognize God’s presence in our lives. True knowledge of Christ inspires both personal devotion and a desire to share the good news with others. Nothing in life—work, responsibilities, or daily routines—should keep us from seeking Him, rejoicing in Him, and telling others about His marvelous love. Like the shepherds, our worship is most powerful when it is active, joyful, and shared.
