When Jesus is born, Wise men from the East came to Jerusalem. The did not come for sightseeing, they came to Jerusalem to worship this King that was born. “Where is he who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” These are people who did not have much knowledge of Jesus, but were eager to worship Him. Contrary to the Jewish leaders and the hostile king of the Jews who knew the Messiah would come. Many people live and are expecting a savior to come to their aid but when the message of the Savior is presented to them they become hostile or indifferent about it. Let us learn from the wise men and become eager to worship the master of the universe, Jesus Christ because if we don’t He will always raise people to take our place and worship Him.
Reflection
The story of the wise men reminds us that truly seeking Jesus begins with a willing and humble heart. Though they knew little about Him, they traveled far with genuine desire to worship the newborn King, while those who had the Scriptures showed indifference or hostility. In the same way, we can miss God’s presence when we grow too familiar or distracted to respond. This passage invites us to approach Jesus with the eagerness and sincerity of the wise men, offering Him our worship and attention, knowing that He is worthy and that He gladly reveals Himself to those who seek Him.
Prayer
Ask God to create in you a craving for worship.
