Content
Christ became Jesus at Christmas because only God could make peace with God for sinful humanity. Also because only a perfect Man could make peace for rebellious humans. In Christ our previously broken communion with God is renewed. It is because of Christ that God did not count our trespasses against us. Forgiveness of sin and the imputation of righteousness could only be possible because of Christ (Rom 3:24). No one is qualified for the ministry of reconciliation without being reconciled with God. There is no proper celebration of Christmas without being reconciled with God and fellow man.
Reflection
Christmas reminds us that God Himself stepped into our world as Jesus so that peace with Him could be restored. Only God could deal with sin, and only a perfect Man could stand in our place, so Christ came to bridge the gap our rebellion created. Through Him, our broken relationship with God is healed, our sins are forgiven, and we receive His righteousness. This gift of reconciliation is the heart of Christmas, and we cannot share it with others unless we ourselves have received it. True celebration of Christmas begins with being at peace with God—and allowing that peace to shape how we relate to others.
Prayer
Pray that God will enable you to reconcile with fellow man in this season of reconciliation.
