Most of the time, when people talk about peace, they are looking at it from an external point of view. In today’s text of meditation, we will see that peace is internal and unshakable. Paul, in our text notes that the peace of Christ is not a passive feeling but a ruling force in the believer’s heart. This peace is rooted in love and forgiveness. Peace unites believers as one body in Christ. This peace directs how we interact with others. It is a peace that governs relationships, bringing harmony and unity among believers, and it comes from the grace and forgiveness we receive from God. This peace doesn’t come from avoiding conflicts but from forgiving and loving as Christ has done for us. Is there someone you need to forgive or reconcile with? Allow the peace of Christ to rule your heart and guide your actions today
Reflection
This reflection reminds us that true peace is not something we find by controlling our surroundings or avoiding difficult people and situations. Instead, peace begins within the heart, rooted in Christ’s love and sustained by His grace. When Paul speaks of the peace of Christ “ruling” our hearts, he uses the image of a referee—peace actively guiding our thoughts, choices, and responses. This kind of peace is not fragile or dependent on circumstances; it is steady and unshakable because it flows from our relationship with Christ. Living in this peace calls us to forgive as we have been forgiven. Forgiveness is not always easy, and reconciliation can feel risky, but it is through these acts that Christ’s peace becomes visible in our lives. When we allow peace to rule, it shapes how we speak, how we listen, and how we respond to hurt. It draws us toward unity rather than division and love rather than resentment. Today’s reflection invites us to examine our hearts honestly: to ask whether we are holding onto anger or distance, and to trust that Christ’s peace is powerful enough to heal, restore, and guide us into deeper harmony with others.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your peace that binds us together in love. Help me to forgive as you have forgiven me and to live in peace with others.
