he angels are still with the shepherds to whom they went to announce the birth of the King of kings. They had given the sign of the baby. Then, verse 13 begins with “suddenly,” which means while the angel was still communicating, there was an appearance of a multitude of the heavenly host. This multitude was praising God. Their words of praises were words of exaltation of God who is the highest. Then the pronouncement of peace came to the earth for those the Lord is pleased with. Those with whom the Lord is pleased can only be those who have accepted the Lord Jesus as the savoir of the world and are justified by faith (Rom 5:1). Let us not continue to live in anxiety while the Lord Jesus has come with great peace for all who are willing to receive. This is a season of much anxiety in families but people can still be peaceful if only they truly turn to Jesus.
Reflection
This devotional reminds us that the angels’ message to the shepherds was not just about the birth of Jesus, but about the peace He brings to those who accept Him. Even in the midst of sudden announcements and overwhelming circumstances, the heavenly host praised God and declared peace on earth for those who are justified by faith. Today, as families and communities face anxiety and uncertainty, we can experience that same peace if we turn to Jesus and trust Him as our Savior. His coming is an invitation to set aside worry and embrace the calm and joy He offers.
Prayer
Ask God to fill your heart with His peace in the midst of anxiety.
