Proverbs teaches that a wise child listens to their father and mother, valuing their wisdom and instruction. This respect creates joy for parents and builds a strong foundation for the child’s life. A child who listens to their father and mother gains wisdom, understanding, and instruction that leads to righteousness. Parents take great joy in seeing their children grow in wisdom and respect. This respect not only benefits the parents but also builds the character of the child. As parents, act in honorable ways with your children and before your children so that they might find Honor your parents by respecting their guidance. When you do so, you are setting yourself up for a life of wisdom and joy.
Reflection
Righteous parental instruction leads children to and keeps them on the path of righteousness. Children then have an obligation to pay careful attention to their parents' righteous instruction.
Prayer
Lord, grant me the grace to listen to and honor my parents. Prayer for the CBC: Pray for mission fields like Akwaya and Mfumte, which are significantly affected by the crisis. Ask for encouragement for discouraged believers
