The Bible says in 1 John 1:9 that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

The story of the woman in our passage contains a good picture of the lesson taught in 1 John 1:9. It shows us how to respond to our sin and how God responds to sinners. The woman's actions demonstrate that she recognized her sinfulness and her unworthiness to be before Jesus. However, she did not hide her sin or hide because of her sin. When she learned that the one who had the power to forgive sins was around, she ran to him. When she demonstrated her remorse for her sins, the Lord forgave her. She left the presence of Jesus cleansed. After she met with Jesus, in the eyes of God, she was as if she had never sinned. She acknowledged her sin and sinfulness and repented, and the Lord forgave her.

This is exactly how we must act. Jesus is always ready to forgive us when we turn to him in repentance. He is faithful and will not drive away a person who turns to him in repentance. Be quick to turn to him in repentance.  Also, learn from him to forgive people who repent of the wrong things they have done against you.
