Forgiveness is central to the Christian life. God calls us to forgive one another just as He has forgiven us in Christ. This means that our forgiveness should be based on how we feel, but on a willingness to show God’s grace, mercy, and love to another person. Paul encouraged the believers in Ephesus to forgive others as Christ had forgiven them. Christ’s forgiveness is the standard. Just as He extended grace to us when we did not deserve it, we are called to extend that same grace to others. This forgiveness reflects Christ’s nature in us. Think of someone who has hurt you or someone you are struggling to forgive. How does God’s forgiveness of you inspire you to forgive them? Take a step in the right direction by forgiving someone today.
Reflection
As Christ forgave, we are called to forgive, reflecting His nature through our actions.
Prayer
Father, help me to forgive others just as you have forgiven me. Fill my heart with compassion and kindness, that I may reflect your love in all my relationships. Amen. Prayer for the CBC: Pray for the life, ministry, and Family of Dr. Atanga Naphtalin, Education Secretary.
