Forgiveness is powerful. It frees us from the pain of bitterness and opens the door for peace to reign in our hearts. Loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us may seem impossible, but it is the call of the gospel. Jesus commands us to love our enemies, not just with our words but with our actions. Prayer for those who persecute us is one of the greatest ways to demonstrate forgiveness. When we pray for those who hurt us, we are choosing to release them into God’s hands, allowing His love to heal our hearts. Is there someone in your life you find hard to love? Begin by praying for them. Ask God to soften your heart toward them and show you how to forgive. As you do, you’ll experience freedom and peace that only God can provide.
Reflection
Forgiveness frees us from the chains of bitterness and brings peace.
Prayer
Lord, help me to love and pray for those who have hurt me. Free my heart from bitterness, and fill me with Your peace as I choose to forgive. Amen.
