Chapter 2 is the prayer of praise. Hannah prayed after the Lord blessed her with a child after years of bareness. In our text, she underlines that God humbles the strong and exalts the weak. We should be humble before God because He knows how to humble the strong. If we are strong or exalted now, we should keep humble because the LORD can change our place quickly. We should be humble before God because He knows how to exalt the weak. If we are weak or in a low place now, we should wait humbly before God and let Him lift us up. Hannah knew she was barren because the LORD had closed her womb (1Sam 1:6). She knew God first set her low, and then brought her high. She could see the hand of the LORD in it all
Reflection
Hannah’s prayer reminds us that God is the One who shapes both our low places and our high places, and that humility is the only fitting posture before Him. Her story shows that seasons of weakness are not signs of abandonment but opportunities for God to reveal His power, and seasons of strength are not rewards for our greatness but gifts meant to be held with gratitude. Just as God lifted Hannah from barrenness to blessing, He is able to humble the proud and exalt the humble, inviting us to trust His timing and submit our lives to His faithful hand.
Prayer
Trust God to help you to be humble. Pray for the CBC: Plead with God to continue to inspire and help those writing CBC biblical literatures, so that they will remain word centred, and contextually relevant.
