The Macedonian churches begged the apostles earnestly for the privilege of taking part in the relief of the saints. These people saw giving to help suffering Christians as a privilege. They were suffering as made evident in v2. However, the fact that helping other people was a privilege made them eager to give. The Lord Jesus taught that the person who gave something to a needy disciple was giving it to him (Matt. 25:31-40). The Macedonians saw giving to other Christians as giving to the Lord Jesus. It became easy to give their insignificant possessions to Him who had given the most precious gift to them salvation. Be encouraged to see all your gifts whether to an individual or to a local church as gifts to Jesus. If you truly understand what he did for you, you will give even more generously than you do right now.
Reflection
Be motivated by the joy of meeting needs to give.
Prayer
Suggestion for prayer: Ask God to help you to be motivated by the needs of others to give. Pray for the CBC: Trust God for a successful Bible Conference in all the Fields of the CBC.
