Content
Though it was a lowly birth, it carried in it great joy for the people. The angels announced the birth by encouraging the shepherd not to be afraid of His presence because he came with reasons to rejoice. The fear of the shepherd was as a result of the visible manifestation of God’s glory. The savior, who is Christ is the Lord and the reason for the shining glory of God around the angels. It was a glorious low birth meant to give joy, hope, peace to all mankind. In a world where only the strong, rich and powerful seem to have joy, the birth of Christ challenges that systems to assure everyone that when they receive the gospel of Jesus, joy is theirs.
Reflection
This devotional reminds us that true joy does not come from wealth, power, or status, but from God’s presence in our lives. Though Jesus was born humbly, His birth brought hope, peace, and joy to all people. The angels’ message to the shepherds shows that God’s glory can be both awe-inspiring and comforting, encouraging us not to fear but to rejoice. Christ’s arrival breaks worldly expectations, assuring everyone—regardless of position or circumstance—that through Him, we can experience lasting joy and hope.
Prayer
Pray that God will fill your life with the joy of Jesus Christ.
