Through Jesus, God reconciled us to Himself, offering us peace. Our passage shows us that this reconciliation is not meant to be enjoyed alone but shared. The peace we experience with God through Christ empowers us to extend that peace to others. We extend the peace by sharing the gospel, the message of reconciliation and peace with other people, so that they might also enjoy the peace we enjoy with God. We have received the ministry of reconciliation, not in that we can reconcile people to God by our own power, but in that we can point them to the one who has done everything needed for their reconciliation with God.
Reflection
The secret for reconciliation with God has been revealed to us. Jesus, out of his great love for humanity, died the death that everyone deserved to die. The enmity that existed between God and man has been dealt with through the death of Jesus, because in his death, he paid the death humanity owed. You are now reconciled to God. Everyone you know can be reconciled to God. Tell them about this means of eternal reconciliation. If they do not hold on to this eternal reconciliation, then they await eternal condemnation.
Prayer
Lord, help me to speak about the reconciliation that is in Christ Jesus to someone today. Help me to understand what reconciliation with you means so that I can talk about it with clarity and conviction to other people.
