For the evil to fight victorious in Corinth, the Apostle taught that what they did should come from the heart of love. Love does not delight in evil practices but rejoices in the truth. The truth that love rejoices in is that which keeps people from ungodly counsel, way of sinners, and the seat of scoffers (Psalm 1:1). What this means is that where true love reigns, truth should prevail. Love does not try to find ways to get away with bad behavior, and it does not put up with injustice. Instead, it treasures truth, celebrates good behavior, and promotes virtue. True love has nothing to hide. We live at a time where there is so much dishonesty in the home, church and society at large yet people claim to love. Let us prove true love by rejoicing with the truth.
Reflection
Evil can be combated with joy for the truth.
Prayer
Tell God you need Him to delight and rejoice in the truth not evil.
