When we go through trials, it can feel like we are running a race that’s filled with obstacles. The writer of Hebrews encourages us to "lay aside every weight and sin which so easily ensnares us." This is a reminder that sin can weigh us down and make it harder to endure trials. The author of Hebrews uses the race to explain how we must approach life’s challenges. Just like a runner must keep aside unnecessary weight to run efficiently, we must remove sin that can entangle us during trials. Sin not only distracts us from God’s will but also keeps us from fully trusting in His provision and guidance. Are there any areas of your life where sin is hindering your ability to endure trials? It may be pride, unforgiveness, or any other hidden sin that keeps you from trusting God fully. Identify these areas and ask God to help you remove them so that you can run the race of faith with endurance.
Reflection
Sin can hinder our ability to endure trials effectively.
